Anode ground electrodes “MENDELEEVETS”-MM

Purpose

• Anode ground electrodes “Mendeleevets”-MM are designed for use as slightly soluble elements of the surface anode groundings in the plants of cathode protection against corrosion of the main pipelines and other underground metal structures. Location of electrodes can be horizontal and vertical.

Operation principle

• The anode ground electrode is an electrode made of corrosion-resistant ferruginous alloy (ferrosilid) and provided with the supply cable. In the standard specification the length of the supply cable makes 2m.
• The anode ground electrodes are of a core form and represent a round casting. In the head of the electrode there is a thickening in which the hollow for a contact unit is formed. The number of the anode ground electrodes in grounding, the distance between them, method of location of the anodes is defined by the cathode protection project.
• To reduce resistance to current spreading of the anode grounding and decreasing of the anode dissolution rate the anode space shall be filled with the carbonaceous backfill KMA.
• The ground electrodes are assembled into the electric circuit. Connection to the supply cable of the cathode protection plant is made through the test points using the main cable. Connection of the anode cables to the main cable is conducted using termite welding or cable clamp. For insulation of the cable connections heat-shrinkable sleeves are applied.
