Corrosion rate sensor “ENERGOMERA” (CRS)

Purpose

• Provided to define corrosiveness of the ground (ground water) in relation to the steel underground structures (including to underground pipelines), to diagnose and forecast the corrosion state of the external surface of the underground steel structures as well as to define efficiency of the anti-corrosion protection system by means of control of the corrosion rate of three steel indicators of different diameter built in into the sensor.

Features

• The sensor is characterized by simple installation, use and low cost.
• The sensor is installed along the pipeline routes, in places of installation of stands, test stations or corrosion monitoring modules, control o which parameters is conducted by periodical measurements or by channels of the telemechanics systems.
• Structurally the sensor consists of three unit indicators made of steel round wire of the same group as pipelines. The indicators are connected with the contact frame by one end, and with the four-core cable by the other one three of which are connected to the unit indicators, and the fourth one – to the contact frame. The place of connection of the indicators and frame with the cable if protected by the coating of the insulation material.

Operation principle:

• Corrosiveness of the ground in certain soil and climatic conditions and control of the state of electrochemical protection is defined by the time of achievement of sequential corrosion destruction of each of three unit indicators of the sensor from the moment of its installation into the ground till loss of electric conductivity by each unit indicator.
